Yummy Food in Alamogordo, NM

I decided this post I will share about FOOD, yes, for all you foodies out there, this is about the restaurant food we have tasted since we have been in Alamogordo, NM!

When I looked up restaurants here in various places (Trip Advisor primarily, but also Yelp, Google, etc) I came up with a list of close to 40 - amazing for such a smallish sized town!  Of course that includes fast food places..Taco Bell, McD's, etc.   Since we don't go out to eat every day, we thought we would try one per week average.  Granted that won't get us to EVERY restaurant in town before we leave in the spring, but a good many for sure.

Since the majority of the restaurants here are Mexican, that is where we started.

Margo's was our first meal out here - it was good.  Great ambience and staff, good food and a large menu - a place to definitely go again as we both found several things we would like to try!  (Pictures)

Next we went to the Rustic Cafe - what a hoot!  This place was wonderful - a bit of a wait on Sunday after church, but so what - it was fun to people watch and see what food others had ordered, chatting with other folks who were waiting.   One lady next to me said she was born here, lived here all her life and they came every Sunday!!   Our table was a bit small, but we opted for the two-seater rather than waiting for a bigger table.   Plenty of space really, for food and drink.  This is the second cafe in a truck stop that has been great - the first was in Roswell.  But, I digress!   Back to the Rustic Cafe.  I had a croissant breakfast sandwich - totally delicious! You must try this if you are ever in the area.  Roger had a great chili burger with a side of baked beans.  He like his a lot as well.   What a fun and delicious place to go!

Hmm, after that we went to the Hitchin' Post BBQ  - for breakfast!  Only open for breakfast at one of their locations and only on Friday and Saturday,  we got up early on a Saturday and went (since we start work at 9 on Saturday).  We both had breakfast burritos, but different ones.  A unique place, worth giving a chance to, just starting with the breakfast thing, and still needing to work out a few kinks.  Good food, decent service.   If we go again, I'd probably not go for breakfast but would try a lunch BBQ meal.

Then we went for lunch - to try Nature's Pantry/Kitchen.  Full of healthy food, vitamins, etc.  Great selection if in the market for that which we were not on this trip.   Roger had a strawberry salad and a bottled soda. I had some kettle chips with a sandwich on ciabatta bread.  Very good flavor.  Now that we know the process, it will be easier if/when we go again.  You place your order up at the counter and then they bring it to you.  Chips, drinks, etc you grab off nearby shelves.  All is paid for up at the front register.  We paid for our drinks/sides up front while waiting for our meal.  When they brought the meal, they also brought us a ticket to take to the front on our way out.   Very interesting place.

Ah, another mexican place we tried and loved, was Si Senor.  We have been twice so far.   It seems pictures are hard to come by for me - surprise - I will set my phone or camera right on the table next to my silverware.  Food comes and we dive in!   What's with that???  Some meals I will remember near the end and capture what is left on our plates.   Si Senor is definitely worth a stop if you are in town.

That's it for today.    Next time, some meals we have made here at home and frozen for quick on-the-road meals.
